Invitations and Characters
Start by sending out invitations that reflect the glamor and mystery of the event. You can use the invitation provided or make your own. Each guest should also receive a character card and background information. Encourage them to dress up according to their character’s personality and traits.
Setting the Scene
Transform your space into the luxurious "House of Twelve Suns" resort. Arrange seating areas reminiscent of the resort's restaurants, spa, library, and other amenities. Use rich fabrics, soft lighting, and instrumental lobby music to set the ambiance.
Get Active!
Business retreats mean team building exercises. The game is set up to provide an optional break for games or activities after the conclusion of the Introduction round. Activities should create a competitive spirit and test entrepreneurial wherewithal by having players split into groups to create and pitch a new product idea (have them stay in character for an added layer of fun), work up a sweat in a game of tug-of-war or other outdoor contest, or test their book smarts with a trivia game.
Snack Time
Three restaurants, three opportunities for an impressive display of food and drink. Create stations to mimic each of the restaurants in the game. Try smoked salmon crostini, a charcuterie board, or stuffed mushrooms for Orion’s Fine Dining; pretzels, pickles, and peanuts at the Eridanus Bar and Lounge; and sliders and chips for Delphinus Lakefront Bar and Grill. Create a signature drink or mocktail for each restaurant to really get into the theme.
For dessert, you can tap into the astrological vibes with star and moon shaped cookies covered in blue and white sprinkles.
Photo Opportunities
Set up a photo booth for resort guests to bring home a keepsake worth remembering. Hang a dark blue or black backdrop to mimic the sky and add shiny stars or a moon using painted cardboard or construction paper.
Include props related to the types of entrepreneurs playing the game: a microphone for a singer, books for the author, and a newspaper for the analyst, for example. You can also include inflatable pool floaties, fun drink glasses, and other props to mimic the resort vibe.
Awards and Recognition
After the mystery is solved, recognize outstanding performances. Award prizes for the best-dressed character, the most creative solution to the mystery, and the most convincing role-playing.
